Broccoli Gratin Recipe
My source of inspiration was this French recipe. (Please note, I made changes to it).
Ingredients
- 14 oz. broccoli (400g)
- 3 eggs
- 6 small slices of turkey
- 3/4 cup sour cream (20cl)
- 4 1/2 oz. Shredded Cheese (130g) (any cheese you like)
- 2 teaspoons minced onion
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- breadcrumps (enough to sprinkle all over the top)
- nutmeg (as needed for seasoning)
- salt (as needed for seasoning)
- pepper (as needed for seasoning)
- olive oil
Servings: people
Instructions
- First, cook the broccoli in boiling water for 10 minutes. Then, put the strained broccoli in a pot on the stove, with olive oil covering the bottom of the pot. Add the minced garlic and the minced onion. On low heat, mix it all together so that the broccoli becomes covered with garlic and onion. This only takes a couple of minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Add the cream, and season with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Mix. Add the slices of turkey cut in little pieces, and 1/3 of the shredded cheese. Mix again.
- Put the broccoli in a gratin dish (or similar dish that goes in the oven). Cover with the mixture you just prepared. Add the remainder of the shredded cheese. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. The top of the gratin should become light brown. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes
If you are making this broccoli gratin for kids, you might want to put less garlic and/or onions, depending on the kids’ tastes.
