French Onion Soup (Easy)

I can’t believe how easy it is to make this French onion soup, AND how good it tastes! Quick, healthy, and deli­cious! The per­fect meal for these cold Fall and Win­ter days. So excit­ed to share this soup recipe! It comes with melt­ed cheese on toast­ed bread, to make it extra deli­cious. A French clas­sic that makes for a scrump­tious starter, or light din­ner meal!

Instruc­tions
  1. Pre­heat your oven to broil.
  2. Chop the onions. Melt the chopped onions with the but­ter in a pot, on low heat for 15 min­utes, stir­ring from time to time.

  3. In a sep­a­rate pot, warm up the bouil­lon.
  4. Once the onions are melt­ed (i.e. they are soft), sprin­kle the flour and minced gar­lic over the onions. When the flour changes col­or, add the hot bouil­lon and the bay leaf. Cook all ingre­di­ents for 15 min­utes on medi­um-low heat. Sea­son with salt and pep­per.

  5. About 2 min­utes before the soup is ready, sprin­kle the bread with shred­ded cheese, and put it in the oven on broil for 1–2 min­utes.

  6. Add the bread with melt­ed cheese on top of the French onion soup. Enjoy warm.
