Pain Perdu (the original French Toast)
(+ a little extra to sprinkle on bread after frying)
(to butter pan)
In a big shallow dish, mix the milk, the eggs, the vanilla extract, and the granulated sugar. Place 4 slices of bread on the mixture. Soak each side for about a minute.
In a skillet, with a little bit of butter, fry the bread, about a minute or two on each side, on medium-high heat.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar before serving. Enjoy!
